Final 2016 blog post

Thank you for coming to visit my learning blog this will be my last post because i am leaving Waikowhai primary school.I have enjoyed using this blog to share my learning with you all. I hope you have enjoyed reading about my learning too.

National libary book

Today Room 7 had to read a national library  book for 15 minutes and then we had to make copy for our questions to answer. Then we made a thing link about the questions we answered.Feel free to leave a comment.

 

On Thursday Room 7 had a reading task to complete.We all had to choose a book from the national library and read it for 15 minutes..We also had to answer 6 questions about the book. We also made a thing link to put on all our questions and answers. Have a look at what i did and feel free to leave a comment.

 

where we were born and why are we called names

On the 25th of October Room 7 did a world map with our amazing cybersmart teacher James. Firstly we had to write where we were born and add a picture to show where we were born or what we liked. Then we realised that our School is special because we have many diverse Students in our School. Have a look at where students from Waikowhai primary were born. Then we answered some questions about how long they got here. Here are the questions we asked.

How far have some students travelled in their lifetime to reach WPS? Hame travelled 3,390 km to get to Auckland. But most of our class is born in New Zealand.

Why do people make the choice to move to different countries?

So they can get a better education and so they can get a good job and future. Family and work.

Is this a trend in NZ society? What does the media tell us?

Yes because house in new Zealand are not expensive and because it is cheaper and better income.

Then we watched a video on racist people and how people look and what they are . Have a look at the video.

I felt kinda sad because people are teasing each other on what colour skin they are and what nationality we are.It was good because it showed that people can judje you even tho they don't know you.

my famous idol

On Monday the 17th  room 7 had to write about someone we looked up to. We chose someone famous so we can write facts about them. Then we had to gather some information so we could be successful in finding out as much information as possible on our famous idol. Then we created a slide and put all our information on. Then we added pictures to the background to make it cool. Have a look of what i did. My famous idol is Shaquille O'neal

                                         

On Monday the 17th of October our cyber smart teacher James showed us a world map. Firstly we all wrote on a chart and had to write what our name was and were We were born. We also added someone from our family but they had to been born somewhere else. Then we had to write were other people from our class were born. We also had to add a picture of a hospital you were born in. Here is a map of where all of Room 7 and their families are from.Hope you like it.
 

Art festival

This Term Room 7 and the whole school had to make a piece of art for our art show. Room 7 had the choice of clay art.Our teacher Mr Ross gave us a mission to make a mythical creature out of clay. We had a test run with play dough because it was the closest thing to clay but first we had to draw what our mythical creature was in our art book.
When we first got our clay we had to mould the shape of what we were doing and then we added little details to make it cool.Then we had to wait about two weeks because Our teacher Mr Ross took them to get burnt in this kind of oven.After two weeks we painted them.I painted one half blue with white poke dots and painted the rest red.Those colours resemble the Samoan flag.There was also a Art festival for the whole week.We also did a slide of what our creature was afraid of and it's weakness's and strengths.we also did what they like to eat and what race it was.

Two weeks ago Room 7  had to make a book trailer. We also used imovie so we could get People in our school to read our books. \We all had to go to the Library to select a book. We had multiple choices to do.We had about 8 or 7 themes to choose from.There were themes such as adventurous,horror,sneaky and also mysterious. Our lesson with James

On the 8th of August James came in to teach us something new on cyber smart. We took a look at schools from around New Zealand and we found a lot of mistakes from the comments.We also noticed that the people commenting introduce them selves. Take a look of what we created.

On Monday the 25 Th of July Room's 7, 8 and 9 went in the hall to do a electricity circuit. The electrical circuit was to do with inquiry. We learnt how to make circuits from a book. Everybody got two batteries. We all made at least two to three circuits. Sometimes some circuits couldn't work because something was in the wrong place. We used batteries, connectors, a siren, lights and also a yellow fan. If you where wondering what we used it was called the electronic brain box which had all the stuff we needed. We learnt about how a circuit works and what is a circuit is. Some circuits went flying and some circuits just lit up. We also took pictures to show what we had built and created. We used thing link to tell what was happening in the picture. Here is our groups circuit.
